Yannick Mackor

I'm a software developer from Utrecht in the Netherlands. Partially self-taught, fluent in both Dutch and English, and curious about just about anything. I blame my autism for that, which I see more as a superpower than a hindrance. Fellow autistic people will surely notice that I have it, but if you don't you're not likely to.

My primary interests are:

This website

This personal site is a work in progress. I have put it online so I can show what I have, but there's many things still to be done. From rather minor edits to major features, to even essential disclaimers. They're all to come, and I've made a publicly visible Kanban board, to keep up with everything I still need to do. My site is however in a functional state, and to me that is of course the number 1 priority.

Navigation on my website can be done through the navigation buttons below, or the waffle menu in the top right. My flagship feature, my "vriendenboekje" (a typically Dutch contact book usually meant for kids to let their friends put some details about themselves) is fully operational, but will gain more features over time, such as more and better fleshed out themes, a sticker feature, and content moderation through detoxify. You can however already add your own page by clicking on the navigation waffle and pressing "add".

Do you feel like you have made good art or know an artist who has made good art to add to my stickers? Send me an email! Preferably through the one that matches my website name.

My stance on the current state of tech

I think there's much to be said about this, and I do think it's important that I make my own stance on this clear, for any potential employers. I'm anything but unwilling to work. I'm also very much not against the idea of using an LLM to speed up my work process. Assisting in documentation, filling in knowledge gaps as long as it's double-checked. I am, however, not happy with the current reliance on generative AI. For anything personal, I prefer to use my own mind. An LLM could never create content that I sign off on, because an LLM doesn't have a mind, personality or personal responsibility. I do.

I'm also a (so far happily passive) participant in the Clippy movement by Louis Rossman. That's to say, if an employer were to ask me to do something illegal or blatantly immoral anti-consumer activities, I would speak up. I trust that anyone who's interested in hiring me doesn't have to view this as a liability, since they won't do this of course!
